I'd long-since stopped drinking, and of course I didn't smoke while I was pregnant, but I picked the nasty habit right back up after I weaned my last child. The first thing you'll notice when you open it up and take it out of the box is how small it is and how light it feels in your hand. The new Stratus weighs just 2.6 ounces, is just 5 inches in height with the mouthpiece attached and is only 1 inch wide at it's thickest part. With my hand wrapped around it, all you can see of it is the top of the mouthpiece and it easily passes for an e-cig when I use it out in public. The first two vapes I tested were both made of plastic and gave off a displeasingly cheap, RadioShack vibe. The Vapir NO2 ($149.99) would look right at home on Batman's utility belt. It's matte black, with an LCD readout and a phalanx of buttons to adjust its temperature settings. The Arizer Solo ($224) was similarly encrusted in indicator lights. These vapes will do the trick, functionality-wise—the Vapir in particular had no problem serving up thick clouds of pot mist soon after I switched it on—but they weren't my style. The flavor cartridges are sold in 10 packs, each of which is the equivalent of 1.25 cartons of cigarettes. However, the cost is only $17.95! Keeping in mind that the cost of a carton of cigarettes is over $100 in some urban areas, this is a low cost alternative indeed. The user has a choice of the mg equivalent, but there are nearly twice as many flavors to choose from compared to the six in the kit, eleven flavors: Cowboy, almond, apple, cherry, vanilla, chocolate, clove, coffee, grape, peach, and strawberry. To make it an even dozen, one may also choose the variety pack. The flavor cartridges. EverSmoke flavors don't have that artificial smoke” edge of so many other brands. These electronic cigarettes are full-flavored and outright tasty. We're all in agreement: EverSmoke got their flavor formulas right! The EverSmoke menthol flavor, crisp and refreshing like spearmint, will win over smokers who don't ordinarily enjoy this flavor. Their tobacco flavor is mild, light and smooth… a real standout for a menthol smoker like myself.

Convenience store retailers should expect the next cigarette price increase to arrive sooner than the normal November cycle, according to a report by Wells Fargo Securities LLC. Wells Fargo conducted a survey of its tobacco retailer and wholesaler contacts representing approximately 60,000 U.S. convenience stores to gauge expectations for the next round of cigarette pricing increases. Bonnie Herzog, managing director – equity research, beverage, household & personal care, tobacco & c-stores for Wells Fargo noted, “According to our contacts, the next cigarette list price increase is expected to be led by PM USA during the week of Sept 18 at $0.08/pack (+2-3%). We agree as we don’t expect manufacturers to wait till the normal November cycle to take a price increase, especially given the severity of volume declines in Q2,” which were related to the outsized impact of California’s $2-per pack increase in excise tax. “As has been the case in past tax cycles, we expect the industry to further mitigate California tax-driven volume declines with list price increases, partially offset by stronger promo efforts. Longer term, we see further downside to combustible cigarette volumes if the U.S. Food and Drug Administration succeeds with its new nicotine mandate. However, we believe this could be mitigated by smokers potentially smoking more in an effort to get the nicotine levels they require—an ‘unintended consequence’—and increased conversion to reduced-risk products,” she added.
